This May Be The Luckiest Little Penguin Fan Ever!

Our Little Penguin Dating & Mating Video Contest Grand Prize Winner, "HappyJoel" and his buddy Nathan, have just returned from their trip of a lifetime to visit the real Little Penguins in Australia!

HappyJoel's winning video proved to be the best penguin pick-up line.

The Grand Prize Trip took them to Sydney, Melbourne, Wine Tasting and of course – a visit with the real little penguins at Phillip Island!

Joel had this to say about his up close visit with the real Little Penguins at Phillip Island: "When we arrived at Phillip Island it was approaching dusk, the time when the penguins make their 30 yard jaunt from ocean to burrows. I didn't realize that it would be such an extensive set up, but there is giant seating for up to 3800 people to watch the penguins, and it felt like watching the home team. As the first little penguins come up on the shore, they are totally timid, and run back and forth a few times before building up the courage to go all the way. But when they finally do, you hear thousands of people all at once cheering for them - it was totally surreal (not to mention adorable.) And it made it all the more fitting that I wore my full body penguin costume, because I felt like a mascot rooting on my team. I honestly could have stayed and watched them for 5 hours and been fascinated the whole time!"

Fall is in the Air!

It is that time of a year again – the days are becoming shorter, the warm evenings are turning crisp and it is starting to feel like fall. With the autumn season upon us and the leaves starting to change color – our mood also changes. Comfort foods and warm drinks sound more appetizing as the temperatures begin to drop. What a better way to welcome the change of season than with this delicious recipe using a bottle of Little Penguin red wine and refreshing pomegranate juice. Mix one up this evening and snuggle up.


the Little Penguin Pomegranate Wine Toddy


1 (750ml) bottle the Little Penguin Shiraz or
the Little Penguin Shiraz Cabernet blend
2 cups 100% pomegranate juice
2 cup sugar
2 (4-inch) cinnamon sticks
1 orange
6 tablespoons pomegranate seeds


In a non-reactive saucepan, combine wine, pomegranate juice, sugar and cinnamon sticks. With vegetable peeler, remove orange peel in strips. Add peel to saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat; cover and remove from heat. Let sit 15 minutes. Remove cinnamon sticks and orange peel; reheat. Serve in heatproof mugs; add 1 tablespoon pomegranate seeds to each mug.

Pinot Noir Perfect Pair Recipe.

Pinot Noir is the grape du jour these days and for good reason. Its soft velvety structure makes it a great wine to drink on its own but also goes with a wide variety of foods. For our vegetarian friends, here is a savory veggie-friendly recipe that is so divine even die-hard carnivores will not miss the meat. The Little Penguin Pinot Noir combines flavors and aromas of cherries and strawberries balanced with a touch of smoky oak. It pairs beautifully with the Ravioli with Sage & Balsamic Vinaigrette. Tres Chic!

Ravioli with Sage-Balsamic Vinaigrette


1 pound store-bought ravioli (cheese, mushroom or squash)
1/3 cup pine nuts
1/3 cup olive oil
8 fresh sage leaves, cut in half
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook ravioli, stirring occasionally, 4 to 5 minutes or until tender but still firm to the bite. Drain well and place on a large serving platter. While ravioli is cooking, sauté pine nuts in olive oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. When pine nuts just begin to brown, remove skillet from heat and add sage. Let sage sizzle 5 to 10 seconds; add vinegar. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon vinaigrette over ravioli, distributing sage and pine nuts evenly. Sprinkle with cheese. Enjoy with a glass of The Little Penguin Pinot Noir.

Makes 2 main course or 4 appetizer servings.
